Spy vs Spy
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7
We as Christians, as the church, as the Ecclesia must understand that of which we are partakers. We have been called out of the world, to walk in the light as Christ is in the light. Why do we live as the dead men we once were? We have received Christ and have light within us, there is no excuse for us not to pursue Him in all things. We are told not to take the name of the Lord in vain, while we keep this with our mouth, we completely deny it with our lifestyle. Walking in darkness, and blinded to the commission and calling God has given us.
I speak to myself in this as well. For years spasmodic Christianity did nothing but lead me to confusion and choices ran by emotion. Why? Because the consequence of walking in darkness was my vision was darkened. Are we so weak in our flesh and Spirit as to not be able to deny our flesh and seek after our King. Colossians 3:5-11 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
It is so much harder to control our emotions, especially anger, when we are not living as we should. And anger is blinding. Why? Because we have light within us, therefore know how we should live, and that is convicting. We have all read the wonderful verse that is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
But I would argue that the following verses are just as important in support of that verse. 17-21 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”"
The light exposes our deeds. Christ, His word it is all light. Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." 1 Thessalonians 5:5 "Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness." How much better is it for us to be living in a way the light is our guide, rather than in darkness and afraid of being exposed? If we are drunkards and seekers of flesh are we not men and women that practice evil? If the world sees us living in such a way our witness is completely destroyed. If they see us living the same as they are, it makes them question why they need Christ.
Let us all cast away the old man, and the dead flesh which we were saved from. Allow the light to guide and convict so that we can be filled with the Spirit, and ready to do the work of our Coming King at the moment he calls. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
