It is a beautiful thing when the worlds of science, math, and the Bible collide.
As we look at Christ through the Gospels we see different perspectives,
some times we think that there is contradiction between accounts. But,
when we really look at the text, and a diligent all of those apparent
contradictions disappear. First lets establish the difference between
the Gospels
The
first thing I want to look at in Matthew is the structure. It is just
one example of literally thousands of examples of how you can prove the
Bible. If we look at the Genealogy of Jesus Christ in the Greek we find something very interesting in the structure. With the Understanding of the importance of the number 7, its meaning of completion We find something incredible when we break down this passage in Matthew
#1. The number of words which are nouns is exactly 56, or 7 x
8.
#2. The Greek word "the" occurs most frequently in
the passage: exactly 56 times, or 7 x 8.
#3. Also,
the number of different forms in which the article "the" occurs is exactly
7.
#4. There are two main sections in the passage:
verse 1-11 and 12-17. In the first main section, the number of Greek
vocabulary words used is 49, or 7 x 7.
#5. Of these 49 words, The number of those beginning with a vowel is
28, or 7 x 4.
#6. The number of words beginning with
a consonant is 21, or 7 x 3.
#7. The total number of
letters in these 49 words is exactly 266, or 7 x 38-exactly.
#8. The numbers of vowels among these 266 letters is 140, or 7 x
20.
#9. The number of consonants is 126, or 7 x
18-exactly.
#10. Of these 49 words, the number of
words which occur more than once is 35, or 7 x 5.
#11. The number of words occurring only once is 14, or 7 x2.
#12. The number of words which occur in only one form is
exactly 42, or 7 x 6.
#13. The number of words
appearing in more than one form is also 7.
#14. The
number of 49 Greek vocabulary words which are nouns is 42, or 7 x 6.
#15. The number of words which are not nouns is 7.
#16. Of the nouns, 35 are proper names, or 7 x 5.
#17. These 35 nouns are used 63 times, or 7 x 9.
#18. The number of male names is 28, or 7 x 4.
#19. These male names occur 56 times or 7 x 8.
#20. The number which are not male names is 7.
#21. Three women are mentioned-Tamar, Rahab, and Ruth. The
number of Greek letters in these three names is 14, or 7 x 2.
#22. The number of compound nouns is 7.
#23.
The number of Greek letters in these 7 nouns is 49, or 7 x 7.
#24. Only one city is named in this passage, Babylon, which in Greek
contains exactly 7 letters.
As you may know, both the Hebrew and Greek use the letters of the alphabet for numerical values. Therefore,
any specific word in either Hebrew or Greek- has a numerical value of its own by adding up the values of the letters in
that particular word. The study of the numerical values of words is called gametria.
The 72 vocabulary words add up to a gametrical value of
42,364, or 7 x 6,052.
The 72 words appear in 90
forms-some appear in more than one form. The numeric value of the 90 forms is
54,075, or 7 x
7,725. Exactly.
What I have just given you is the structure of the first 17 verses of Matthew, the Genealogy of Jesus Christ, in the Greek. There is no way, that a human could write this. To Give you a number, the chance of this happening at random is 1 in
191,581,231,380,566,414,401. What get's worse is I just gave you 24 and did not include the values of the letters, and there are even more of these on top of that.
One thing that I would like to lay to rest, is this notion that Jesus never claimed to be God. Actually this is not correct, and anyone that states this has not done their homework. The rebuttal to this is found in John 8. We see an interesting confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees. Christ has stated that he is thte Light of the world in verse 12 and the Pharisees are not happy about this. What we are missing by just reading this is the emotion within the text, so we can easily miss what is actually going on here. Starting in verse 32-41, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: [but] the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto
them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God." They are are calling Him a bastard right there. Speaking of His supposed illegitimate birth.
Moving down to verse 53-59 They asked Him, "
Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? Jesus
answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father
that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet
ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him
not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his
saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then
took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out
of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by."
The question is why did they want to stone him. It is in the statement Jesus had just made, "Before Abraham was, I Am." We miss it, but the Pharisees got it right away. He was claiming to be the voice of the burning bush that spoke to Moses, the I Am that I Am. Right there is Jesus' claim that He is God.
The question today is: do you know Him? Have you actually asked Him into your life, and to forgive your sins? The statement has been made I think I can say without fault, millions of times, "I believe in God." That is great, James 2:19 has a very interesting viewpoint on that statement, "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." We can believe in God all we want, but if we have not accepted Christ, asked Him into our lives, and to forgive our sins, we remain lost. Christ said in John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"
If you do know God, the next question is, what are you doing for Him? There is an interesting coin that has two sides. Without Him we can't, but the flipside to that is, without us He won't. We have a responsibility, a duty that when pursued is the most fulfilling adventure one could ever begin. It is to make Christ our first love; to search the scriptures daily and pursue a relationship with the very God of the universe. One thing it will reveal, when we begin to really pursue our Christian walk, is who our friends are. When we make major lifestyle changes, it can actually be incredible how those we thought were our friends, will come against us. To put it bluntly that is the enemy working through them. Because Satan knows how easily peer pressure can nullify someone as a threat. If we are truly living as we should, and carrying out the Great Commission that Christ Himself gave to us, we are a threat, and no small one at that. But if we hold fast to Christ, the reward that we will gain, is worth far more, than any small satisfaction we could ever achieve in this life by our own hand.
