Instruct your Children

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:21-25

The bible, an absolutely amazing entity. There is depth in the word of God in which we cannot even fathom in our flesh; but, we do know that we have the mind of Christ from 1 Corinthians 2:16. If we look to that which is laid before us, freely given by our King, holding fast to the life we are called, God will grant understanding. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17. There is so much life within this book if we dig in and find what it says.

97 Oh, how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies;
For they are ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the ancients,
Because I keep Your precepts.
101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not departed from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way.
105Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
106 I have sworn and confirmed
That I will keep Your righteous judgments. Psalm 119:97-106

The word is light, life, and gives us literally all we need to live the life we are called, the words of life from our King to be spoken to the world.  If we find ourselves having trouble getting into the word, memorizing and speaking this passage often is something to be taken up. We must instill a longing for the word of God within ourselves. It is where our faith comes from. Romans 10:17 "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Our lives should rest upon the words within the scriptures.

I am going to be adding video of Chuck Missler's Learn the Bible in 24 Hours. It is an adventure unlike any ever taken, and it will give us a better understanding of how we can dig into scripture. I pray you take the time to watch or listen, and it ignites in you a passion to search the scriptures and assimilate them in a way never done before.
