As we see all that is happening in the Middle East we pray protection over the men and women in those countries, those that are in danger, our Christian brothers and sisters throughout the countries, and for the souls of the captive. We can see the god of this world hard at work moving all the pieces setting everything up.
Psalm 83:1-8 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
Edom can also be called Idumea
First let's look at who these peoples are today.
Edom - descendants of Esau
Ismaelites - Esau married into them (the eternal hatred Jacob and Esau)
Moab - Palestinian refugees and Central Jordanians
Hagrites - Egyptians
Gebal - Edomites south east of Dead Sea
Ammon - Palestinian refugees and Norther Jordanians
Amalek - Arabs south of Israel (Hamon was a descendant)
Philistia - Palestinian refugees and Hamas in the Gaza strip
Tyre - Hezbollah and Southern Lebanese
Assyria - Syria and Iraq
Here is what we find interesting about this passage. In verse 3 it says against thy people(Israel), but who are these hidden ones? The word in the Greek for hidden ones comes from the word tsaphan which means to hide, to be hidden, to hide from discovery. This is a very provocative thought question. Chuck Missler asked if this could be the raptured church. If so, and we see these countries beginning to rise up as they are, is this another sign of the lateness of the hour? I believe so, but do your own work, find out for yourself, and form your own opinion. Be a Berean, Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so.
No matter how far the rabbit hole we go, no matter how dark this world becomes. We must hold fast to Christ. I would encourage all of us to take up daily memorization of the word of God. Even if it is just a verse or two a day. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 We build our faith by listening, reading and memorizing the scripture. Where there is faith there will not be fear and doubt. We need to be burning lighthouses in this world. Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Our faith, our passion, our joy, our path, our very lives are what the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy: Christ came that we would have life, and have it more abundantly according to John 10:10.
Every day that the Lord withholds is another day for us to speak the living water into this dying world. To follow the Great Commission, bring freedom to the captive. We must all in one accord come together and pray protection over our brothers and sisters under persecution throughout the world. The Christians throughout the Middle East, China, Russia, Africa and everywhere else that they suffer for the name of Christ. Pray Psalm 91 over them. And pray for an infilling of the Spirit as has never been seen before, in those countries and here in America. We pray for explosion of courage and that the Spirit speaks through us to those that are lost, that they may come to know Christ. As the end draws ever closer, let us not miss one opportunity to tell someone about Our Coming King, to call a brother or sister that has fallen by the wayside. Let us be all that the Lord God of the Universe has called us, and given us power to be through His Holy Spirit.
It is no longer I who live, but Christ in Me. Galatians 2:20. Let us die to ourselves, Kill the man inside, destroy this dead flesh and cast it away. Our King died for us, should we not then take up that which He has called us to with all passion and without ceasing? No amount of pleasure in our flesh can compare with what the Lord has prepared for our lives if we seek Him and His will earnestly. His is the Kingdom and the Power, and the Glory Forever, take that to the world!
