Slaughter your Sons

"12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together." Romans 8:12-17

Knowing that we are truly the sons of God, we must stand up against our own flesh. We are but pilgrims passing through, yet warriors that fight against the darkness of this world. We have all been there, indulging in our own desires. Allowing the dead man that we were to lead us rather than the Spirit of our King. James 1:14 says, "But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires/lusts and enticed.  Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death." Let us live this way no longer. If we are angry against another, or believe someone has wronged us we cannot hold to the thought they owe us apologies. In so doing we bind ourselves and will quickly find stagnation in many areas. Why? because we haven't  truly forgiven them. I know because that exact thing happened to me. Have we not all sinned or offended in some way? All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23

If we are holding onto this world, let it go. "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 Our eyes must be on Christ constantly. The Evil ones stands ready for the slightest hint of weakness, and then they attack full force. We must constantly war within ourselves against spasmodic Christianity. When we are high and feel comfortable is a dangerous place. 1 Thessalonians 5:3 "For when they shall say, peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."

Let go of the temptations and pleasures of this dead flesh. Take up the life that comes with the Spirit of the God of the Universe. We are sons of God, no longer damned, cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. Do not tarry one more day, revive the liberation of Jesus Christ within, and find His words hidden in your heart. "Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" Luke 6:45 so let us find overflow of King's Spirit, His words and life constantly passing through our lips. Taking every chance to praise him, praying in the Spirit to build up ourselves in Him, filling our hearts with His scriptures, so that we can stand ready and vigilant. Prepared for the moments He calls us.
